High-performance event technology as individualised solutions

An essential design element, professionally planned lighting technology has a positive impact on the success of any event. Irrespective of whether the stage is used for theatre performances, concerts, or performances by individuals.

Intelligent lighting concepts focus the audience’s attention and adapt the atmosphere in the audience area to the subject or set details in scene.

Individually adapted lighting compositions consisting of a varied range of lighting elements – from floodlights to spotlights large and small – create the desired effects.

High-performance components for sophisticated lighting concepts

Effective stage lighting is created by the use of a varied spectrum of lighting technology consisting of lighting elements and controls.

Bühnenprojektor

Stage projectors

These projectors are extremely bright devices that supplement stage sets by projecting special effects and images.
Equipped with high-performance optics, stage projectors have a reach of up to 1,000 metres.

Such projectors are suitable for use on various stage constructions, from theatre stages to the stages of open air festivals.

Parabolspiegelscheinwerfer

Parabolic aluminised reflectors

Simply built parabolic spotlights are available in a wide variety of sizes with different reflected beam angles, and they have an accessory holder at the front.

With their extremely bright light and the rapid response characteristic of the halogen lamps used, professional lighting technology primarily deploys parabolic aluminised reflectors as stage lighting in show productions

Fluter

Floodlights or panel and cyclorama lights

These types of spotlights feature the ability to illuminate large surfaces with just a few devices by means of a widely diffused beam of light.

Floodlights are available with symmetrical and asymmetrical reflectors, which means they distribute light differently. Multipurpose spotlights for theatres are just as suitable for illuminating stage backgrounds as they are for front lighting or general illumination.

Theaterscheinwerfer

Spotlights for theatres

Spotlights for theatres are specifically harmonised to fulfil the requirements of theatre productions and create the appropriate stage lighting.

Floodlights as front lighting with low light intensity are used alongside Fresnel lens and plano-convex lens spots or ellipsoidal reflector lights and followspots. In addition to light quality, the reflected beam angle, lighting angle, and numerous other criteria play key roles in the production of the desired effects.

Profilscheinwerfer

Ellipsoidal reflector light

This special type of spotlight features a sharply delineated, circular beam without any scattered light. Integrated shutter blades enable the circle of light to be cut off, enabling the precise illumination of a defined surface.

Ellipsoidal reflector lights are an important element of expressive stage lighting design and are used on stages as typical theatre-style spotlights.

Blinder

Blinders

Blinders are special high-performance spotlights that emphasise selected scenes by means of a bright yet warm light effect. The effect is created by directing particularly bright light to a specific part of the stage to showcase that area in comparison to action on the rest of the stage.

Often parabolic aluminised reflectors, blinders are primarily used in the show field.

LED in lighting technology

It may have been difficult to achieve the performance equal to that of halogen lamps with LEDs in the beginning, but today the energy-saving, high-performance lamps are standard in many spotlights for the theatre.

Their major advantages include low power consumption, a long service life, and minimal heat build-up.

The high initial investment and light output that decreases over distance are considered their primary disadvantages. Similarly, the high-frequency flickering produced by dimming when recording films also poses a problem.

LED in der Lichtttechnik

A second glance at the advantages and disadvantages, however, shows that without restrictions, LEDs are replacing classical theatre spotlights as stage lighting in many areas.

Lighting control: the heart of any lighting system

As soon as you design lighting scenes as part of lighting technology, you need a lighting control solution. It is the interface between technology and humans, controlling colour changes, brightness, or the positions of the spotlights used.

Lighting technicians operate the lighting control system manually or with the support of a computer via the lighting control memory.

Lichtmischpult

This piece of equipment is essential for professional use. As a result of its high level of automation, it enormously simplifies lighting control and optimises the design of new lighting concepts thanks to the reproducibility of previously programmed lighting scenes and their variations.

Digital control via general standards

Inspizientenanlage

Before the advent of digital control systems, stage lighting was controlled via analogue signals Each circuit required its own cable, resulting in a very high level of cabling work.

Digital technology with digital control systems reduced the effort. With this in use, only one cable is required to control all end devices. The standardised DMX protocol is responsible for successful communication between the control unit and the various end devices used in lighting technology.

Today, all lighting technology components communicate under the DMX-512/1990 standard, which ensures that individual spotlights for theatre are compatible with the control unit.
